The 22nd Washington Health Policy Institute will be held at George Mason University, Founders Hall, 3351 Fairfax Drive, Arlington VA 22201

Please note:

Credit courses will begin on June 1st, 2014.

Cancellation Policy

Due to the condensed format of this academic offering, course changes or withdrawals are not allowed after May 1, 2014.

Refunds (minus a $100 processing fee) will be issued only if a Drop Form is received by May 1, 2014.  This form can be found on the Academic Outreach website:  chhs.gmu.edu/academic-outreach.  No refunds will be given after May 1, 2014.

 

Registration Options:

Option 1:

Washington Health Policy Institute (CEU’s only)

  • June 1 - 6, 2014
  • 3 CEUs
  • $1,630*

Provides and understanding of how public policy affects the nations’ health care delivery system and resources. Through lectures and interactive discussions with top policy makers, enrollees explore the forces influencing current policy and the policy-making process.

The institute will be held from 9am to 5pm on Monday thru Thursday; 9am  to noon on Friday.

Option 2: 

WHPI and HAP 605 Health Policy (graduate credits)

  • June 1 - 7, 2014
  • 3 Credits
  • $2,630*

An introductory survey to the process and politics of health policy as they relate to the delivery and financing of health care in the United States. Examines the major public and private sector institutions responsible for health policy development, and the interaction of these institutions and their competing interests to create and implement health policies and public programs providing health coverage and services. Classroom lectures and discussion will be augmented by the institute’s unique field experience of hearing a variety of health policy experts and visiting Captiol Hill.

HAP 605 begins Sunday prior to the institute and will meet from 2:30 to 4:30pm. Classes will meet Monday thru Friday from 7:30 to 9:00am. Following class, attendance for the Washington Health Policy Institute is Mandatory

Option 3:

WHPI and HAP 746 Health Policy Leadership (graduate credits)

  • June 1 - 7, 2014 
  • 3 Credits
  • $2,630*
PROGRAM ENROLLMENT IS LIMITED TO 30 PARTICIPANTS

Identifies and assesses critical leadership skills in many areas of health policy making necessary for health care professionals. Teaches individuals how to link health issues with policy development and pursue appropriate strategies. Examines the leadership process from a policy and organization perspective to expand students’ ability to strategically affect health policy and the public health policy-making process. Helps potential post-baccalaureate health care professionals develop leadership skills and participate effectively in many areas of health policy making. Participants receive customize leadership assessment and tailored coaching to take advantage of their unique personal potential.

HAP 746 begins Sunday prior to the institute and will meet from 2:30 to 4:30pm. Classes will meet Monday thru Friday from 7:30 to 9:00am. Following class, attendance for the Washington Health Policy Institute is Mandatory. 

 

*Fee includes venue, reception, breakfast, breaks, breakfast and lunch one day on the Hill, daily transportation to and from the hotel, and internet access at the institute.
